BGH: Lexington Men O'War (ECHL)

(Updated November 8, 2004)

The ECHL's Lexington Men O'War franchise had the following history:

88-90  Virginia Lancers

90-92  Roanoke Valley Rebels

92-93  Roanoke Valley Rampage

93-94  Huntsville Blast

94-01  Tallahassee Tiger Sharks

01-02  Macon Whoopee

02-03  Lexington Men O' War

The team played in Lexington's Rupp Arena and practiced at Lexington Ice Center. The Elmore-Tuttle Sports Group owned the team.  The MOW only played the 2002-2003 season before shutting down.  They placed 4th in the Northwest Division of the ECHL and had a record of 34W-31L-7T.  They did make the playoffs, but the management of Rupp Arena told the team the Arena would not be available for the postseason series.  The “home” games for the series were played in Peoria, Illinois.  The Men O’War were swept in the first round by the Division’s 1st seed Toledo Storm (9-1L, 3-0L, 5-1L).
